Tangerang, 18 October 2025 - Time flies by so quickly. The days pass by until we reach this stressful time. The aroma of coffee always signals the beginning of a renewed desire to fight. It's not that I'm a true coffee lover, but without that bitter cup, my eyes wouldn't be able to reconcile staring at the laptop screen, which has now become my daily bread. On my desk, piles of work, assignments, thesis drafts, and revision notes are scattered like an unfinished puzzle. Among all of them, only coffee never protests when I ask for it to accompany me—whether it's afternoon, evening, or early morning.
For me, coffee used to be about taste. I could spend ages choosing varieties and assessing the differences in aromas. But since I've been busy with college and final year research, coffee has changed. It's no longer a pleasure, but a necessity. The sweetness or bitterness no longer matters. What matters is that the coffee's flavor is strong and can keep me sane in this final semester.Working and studying simultaneously can be a real drain on time if you don't manage it well. And coffee now feels like a necessity, not just a desire. Every sip tells a story. Sometimes I laugh to myself, imagining that coffee might be tired of listening to me complain about how tired I am. Ittiba, UK, my thesis, three internships—oh my! Just thinking about it is stressful. Not to mention the supervisor who takes forever to reply to my messages. I feel like crying!
However, despite the fatigue and countless cups of coffee, I've learned one thing: life as an older student isn't about striving for perfection, but about persevering. Surviving with coffee in my right hand, and the remaining passion in my left.
Now I realize that coffee is no longer about taste. It's a symbol of struggle—a reminder that even if the day feels tough, there's always something to brew to start again.
